What is Galentine’s Day?
Galentine’s Day is simply women celebrating the women they love! These key friendships, we cherish deeply, are celebrated each year on Galentine’s Day which is held every year on February 13. Originating from the popular TV show ‘Parks and Recreation,’ the holiday is all about declaring love and affection to the girls who make up our support system.
I would venture that we can broaden Galentine’s Day to encompass all friendships and relationships based on platonic love. Friends, family, siblings, all those people who make up our village and support network. The ones that are always there, supporting us. We need a day to celebrate and honour those special relationships and Galentine’s Day is the perfect day to shine a light on these people who bless our lives.

What is Tarot?
Tarot is at its base a card game, but it is so much more to many people. Each card contains stunning illustrations, that when paired with our intuition can help with self reflection, understanding of ourselves and our environment, and even divination. Galentine’s Day Tarot Party
A wonderful way to celebrate Galentine’s Day is with a Tarot Party!
You can do this virtually, or in person. The best part is that only one person needs a tarot deck or oracle deck.
Light some red and pink candles, set out some crystals, dim the lights, and open your hearts to love and learning! Red and pink are each associated with love, as red represents passion and romantic love, and pink represents unconditional love. It’s not an accident they’re associated with Valentine’s day and Galentine’s Day!
Ensure you also have wonderful drinks and foods that will nourish your bodies as you nourish your spirits.
When you get together with your friends to read tarot, it’s a great chance to be with the people who know and love you and get their feedback when it comes to your love journey. They can be that extra bit of validation that you may not have given yourself when you’re reading the cards solo. In turn, you can be that person for your friend! You can all write down key points that you learn from your readings and create affirmations of love together. What better way to spend Galentine’s day than with people you love, all learning how to love themselves fully?
Tarot Friendship and Love Cards
While doing readings with your friends, there are certain cards you may want to explore deeper that have strong connections to love. You can learn more about these cards and Tarot Love readings in this article, but here is a brief list to get you started. Chat about and explore these cards together and see what you can discover together.
The Lovers
The Lovers is about romantic love and self-love, but it’s also about two sides aligning and coming together through choices made from a place of love and compassion. This would be a promising card to pull for a potential or existing relationship. Even friendships.
The Sun
This is a card of the enlightenment and love that comes from being your most authentic self. It is connected with love, authenticity, growth, and joy… all while being true to yourself, which is the best!
Ace of Cups
A promising card to receive for new love, or for a new phase of love and openness in an existing relationship or friendship.
2 of Cups
Often this card represents romantic love MORE than the Lovers tarot card in my readings. However, it can also refer to a soulmate or an extremely beneficial relationship. For example, this card comes up when my best friend and I are reading together, and she is absolutely my soulmate. Pulling the 2 of Cups during Galentine’s Day is a wonderful draw!
3 of Cups
This is the ultimate Galentine’s Day tarot card. It is all about friendship and celebrating those that make your life better. Sisterhood, being social, helping the group and letting the group help you. It’s time to celebrate, enjoy life, and be with those who matter. This is the theme card of Galentine’s Day!
9 of Cups
This is called “the Wish card” in the tarot and is considered a sign that your wishes will come true. Heads up, sometimes we don’t wish for what we really want, but rather what we think we can settle for. When this pops up, do be mindful that you are wishing authentically and wisely. Like the saying goes, “careful what you wish for.” But in general, a very positive sign to receive.
10 of Cups
This could indicate that not only this relationship will be joyful, but that other relationships will thrive as well. Could indicate a potential family, or at least a close-knit group of people who love each other.
4 of Wands
This card is sometimes thought of as a marriage card in tarot readings. But it’s more than that, it’s the celebration of energies coming together and building stability and love. Romantic or platonic.
9 of Pentacles
Though the image is of a single woman admiring her vineyard (so like, living the dream) this card is about self love, confidence, empowerment. It also often appears as people are entering a joyful phase in their journey.
Happy Galentine’s Day Tarot Spread
Here is a love spread that I created just for this purpose! This spread is designed to help you acknowledge your self-love blocks, your self-love strengths, and give you suggestions on how to invite more love into your life. Let your friends help give you validation, support, and laughter as you do this reading together.
