Metatron’s Cube Sacred Geometry
Our logo at Forging Magic is inspired by Metatron’s Cube. As a sigil of sacred geometry, it acts as a symbol of our universe, and how everything, no matter how seemingly small or insignificant, is connected. Named after Metatron, an archangel who guards the Tree of Life, Metatron’s Cube is a powerful symbol that connects us to the divine and the magic all around us. As we strive to forge our own magic every day here at Forging Magic we knew this symbol was the perfect inspiration for our work, and we are excited to dig into it more today.

Before we dig in, this is a complex geometric symbol with a long history and layers of meaning and interpretation. I have done my best to share what I have learned about this popular symbol, but I am still learning and exploring teachings. As I learn more, I will update here.
What is Metatron’s Cube?
Perhaps you have never heard of Metatron’s Cube and are wondering what the heck we are talking about. So let’s start at the beginning. Metatron’s Cube is a sacred geometric symbol that has its roots in ancient mystical and esoteric traditions. Various cultures throughout history consider it to be a map of creation. It represents balance, harmony, creative opportunities, and energy flow throughout the Universe. Many use it to ward off negative energies and provide protection, or to connect with the divine and cosmic energies of creation.
What does Metatron’s Cube Look Like?
Metatron’s Cube is a seemingly complex pattern, but that is actually surprisingly simple. It is believed to contain every shape that exists in the universe and those shapes are the building blocks of all physical matter
It is a two-dimensional symbol consisting of 13 circles all connected by 78 lines. Within the symbol you will find the 5 Platonic Solids, which we will explore more in a moment.
These connections represent the flow of energy between everything in the Universe and Nature. Metatron’s Cube is the manifestation of time, space, and energy… which is kind of Timey Wimey in a Doctor Who kind of way!
What are the 5 Platonic Solids?
Within Metatron’s Cube there are the 5 Platonic Solids. These are geometric shapes that were first described by the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle Plato. They are unique in that all their faces are congruent regular polygons, and the same number of polygons meet at each vertex.
The five Platonic solids are:
- Tetrahedron (also known as a Star Tetrahedron) is a three-dimensional shape with four faces, each of which is an equilateral triangle. It has four vertices and six edges.
- Cube (Hexahedron), a three-dimensional shape with six square faces. It has eight vertices and twelve edges.
- Octahedron, a 3D shape with eight faces, each of which is an equilateral triangle. It has six vertices and twelve edges.
- Dodecahedron is a three-dimensional shape with twelve faces, each of which is a regular pentagon. It has twenty vertices and thirty edges.
- Icosahedron, a 3D shape with twenty faces that are all equilateral triangles. It has twelve vertices and thirty edges.

These five Platonic solids have been studied for their mathematical and geometric properties and have held symbolic and philosophical significance throughout history. They are considered to be the building blocks of all physical matter, with each representing an element in the Universe.

Who is Metatron?
Metatron’s Cube is named after the Archangel Metatron. He’s been spoken of (or an equivalent of him) in Jewish mysticism (Kabbala), Islamic, Egyptian, and Christian Middle Age writings.
Metatron holds significant roles and symbolism in various religious and mystical traditions. The name “Metatron” is derived from Greek and is believed to mean “beyond the throne” or “one who serves behind [or alongside] the throne.”
Metatron is believed to be one of the highest-ranking angels. He is known as an intermediary between the divine and humanity, bridging the realms of heaven and earth, divine and humanity. According to Jewish mystical teachings, Metatron is associated with divine secrets, knowledge, and the transmission of spiritual insights. Learn more here or here.
The Tree of Life
In certain mystical traditions, Metatron is believed to be closely linked to the Tree of Life, which is a central symbol in the Kabbalah. The Tree of Life is a conceptual map that represents the divine emanations and the pathways through which the divine energy flows.
Metatron’s association with the Tree of Life stems from the belief that he serves as the celestial guide or ruler of the realm of Malkuth, which is the final sphere on the Tree of Life representing the material world. Metatron is considered to be the bridge between the divine and the earthly realms, and his connection to Malkuth signifies his role in bringing divine energy and consciousness into manifestation.
Additionally, in some Kabbalistic teachings, Metatron is associated with the sefirot, which are the ten emanations or spheres on the Tree of Life. It is said that Metatron represents the highest level of the sefirot, known as Keter (Crown), which represents the divine will and pure consciousness. Metatron’s presence at the top of the Tree of Life symbolizes his proximity to the divine source and his role as a mediator between the divine and human realms.
Metatron’s connection to the Tree of Life highlights his role as a guide and facilitator of spiritual ascent and enlightenment. He is seen as a guardian of mystical knowledge and the pathways to divine understanding. Through his association with the Tree of Life, Metatron represents the integration of the earthly and heavenly realms and serves as a link between the divine and human consciousness.
How to Draw a Metatron’s Cube
Now if we are going to use this amazing symbol in our practice, we need to know how to draw it. The key to understanding this symbol is to recognize how the lines connect to the circles.
The first thing you need to do is lay out the equal circles which form a symbol called the Fruit of Life or Flower of Life. Then, draw a line connecting the centre of each of the 13 circles to all of the other circles. There will be 78 lines when you are finished and within the symbol you will now have all 5 Platonic Solids inside. Pretty simple and profound!
